About

My paintings and drawings echoe my deeply felt need to examine the interconnections between natural and cultural worlds. I  thrive on diversity, enjoy exploring mystical landscapes, unique habitats and the components of life that inform my connection with the natural world and our 'being' within it: the co-existence of human and non-human beings. These ideas are echoed through drawing, painting and illustration as I continue to create works of Art that aim to inspire an aesthetic appreciation of liminal and dynamic environments.

I have completed a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Art) majoring in Natural History Illustration and Master of Art (University of New South Wales) and in 2016 graduated with a PhD at the University of Newcastle, Australia.

PhD research topic - Riparian Life: a visual navigation of the Hunter River Estuary.

My doctoral research is multidisciplinary and spans disciplines of History, Ecology, Environmental Science, Contemporary Art and Natural History. I continue to explore  the diverse and changing nature of the Hunter River Estuary, utilising creative practice to express my findings.

I aim to explore new ways of appreciating the vital interconnection between nature and culture by using refined techniques of traditional oil painting on linen and methods derived from the Renaissance period. Through this process I create multiple pencil or watercolour sketches and tonal drawings that contribute to the final works of Art that I have posted on this online gallery.

Studio practice and the process of creation that I undertake each day enlivens a deeper contemplation of visual concepts.  I hope you enjoy brousing over the images I have created and please feel free to email me if you have any questions or enquiries.

Please email or phone me if you would like to commission new work or enquire about purchasing any of the paintings and drawings displayed on this site.
